Cali Move App Update 2.0: More Workouts, More Control, More Visibility

Cali Move 2.0 is out today on the App Store and Google Play.

It’s the biggest update since the app launched, and most of it came straight from what the community asked for. Here’s what’s new.

What you’ll find in this article:

  1. A workout calendar
  2. Your level, in the open
  3. Multiple plans at once
  4. Over 2,300 workouts to choose from
  5. The workout library, from every angle
  6. Missed a few weeks? The app catches you up
  7. Still adapts to you
  8. Also in this update

A Workout Calendar

Knowing what’s coming is half of staying consistent.

Until now, seeing your week meant scrolling through your plan and working it out yourself. Cali Move 2.0 adds a proper calendar, in monthly and weekly views, showing every session you have scheduled: what’s done, what’s ahead, and where the gaps are.

That sounds small. It isn’t. Consistency is rarely a motivation problem. It’s a visibility problem. When the month is laid out in front of you, moving a session around a work trip stops being something you avoid and becomes something you do in ten seconds.

Multiple Plans at Once

You’re no longer locked into a single active program, and everything you schedule shows up in that same calendar.

Previously, Basic meant one program and Pro meant two. That’s gone. Basic and Pro now differ by how many workouts you can complete per day: Basic allows one, Pro allows as many as you want. Everything else is unlimited on both tiers. You can schedule as many plans and single workouts into your calendar as you like, whatever your subscription.

This is especially useful now that single workouts exist (more on those below). You could plan a hip mobility session, a shoulder mobility session, a push-focused strength workout and a handstand skill session: four single workouts, each with its own focus, combined into a week that fits exactly what you need. You can just as easily run Complete Calisthenics and a Mobility program side by side.

On Basic, you can still plan all of it. The limit only applies to finishing workouts. Once you complete one workout for the day, the rest lock for that day and move to the next one automatically, so nothing gets lost.

Your Level, in the Open

Before you commit months of training to a program, you should know what you’re committing to.

The level system has always been part of the app. It placed you into a level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Expert) based on your onboarding answers and your training feedback. What’s new in 2.0 is that you can actually see it, get a clear recommendation, and decide for yourself whether to follow it.

This matters more than it might sound. Until now, your level could shift automatically based on your feedback. If a few tough sessions pulled your recommendation down, the app moved you down with it. A lot of you told us that was confusing: exercises would suddenly feel much easier, with no clear explanation why.

That doesn’t happen anymore. The app still calculates a recommendation in the background, based on the same performance requirements as before, but nothing changes on its own. You see what’s recommended, you see how many workouts that level holds, and you decide whether to act on it: now, later or not at all. Even after a rough stretch, you won’t be moved down unless you choose to.

It’s also worth saying why the levels exist in the first place. Muscle adapts in weeks, but tendons and ligaments take months. That gap is where a lot of calisthenics injuries come from, and the level structure is there to keep you on the right side of it. The difference now is that you can see it, and decide for yourself how to use it.

Over 2,300 Workouts to Choose From

Not every training day fits inside a program.

You have 25 minutes before work. You’re traveling with no bar. Your upper body is cooked from yesterday and you’d rather train legs, or skip strength altogether and do a mobility session instead. Your scheduled program doesn’t know about any of that.

Cali Move 2.0 adds more than 450 new single workouts on top of the scheduled programs already in the app: over 2,300 workouts in total, sorted by body part, split and skill. Pick one, train it, done, with no disruption to whatever plan you’re already following.

You can also filter by the equipment you actually have available, so you’re only ever shown workouts you can do right now.

The Workout Library, From Every Angle

Every exercise in the app, with its video, in one place.

Want to check what a scapular pull-up looks like before your set? See the next progression? Or find the optimal grip width for a push-up? You no longer have to start a workout to find out. The Exercise Library gives you the explainer video for any exercise on demand.

New in 2.0: you can also switch between camera angles for the correct-execution video. It’s the same footage that plays during the actual workout, now viewable from multiple perspectives instead of just one. A lot of you asked for this, since a single angle doesn’t always show what your joints and spine are actually doing. It’s available both in the Exercise Library and in the Workout Overview, wherever you look at an exercise’s details.

Quality over quantity has always been our first rule. But to train with good quality, you first need to know what good technique actually looks like. That’s exactly what this is for.

Missed a Few Weeks? The App Catches You Up

Life happens. If you’ve been away from a plan for three weeks or more, Cali Move 2.0 now recognizes that and asks how you want to pick it back up, instead of just leaving you looking at an outdated schedule:

  • Jump back in where you left off: continue today, no prep phase.
  • Ease back in: a short prep phase first, then back into the plan.
  • Start over: reset the plan completely, with a full prep phase.

Whichever you pick, it’s your call. The app just makes sure a long break doesn’t turn into starting from zero without meaning to.

Still Adapts to You

Rating how a set felt and having the app adjust your reps and progression for next time hasn’t changed. That’s still there, and it’s still what keeps a program from going stale. You’re not stuck repeating the same difficulty for weeks on end, and you’re not stuck guessing whether to push harder.

What’s new: you can change the progression of an exercise yourself, whenever you want. Pick your difficulty before you start a set, or adjust it mid-set if it’s not feeling right, without waiting for your feedback to work its way into the next session. Train, rate it honestly, and the app handles the rest. Or take the wheel yourself in the moment.

Export your logs. If something in the app doesn’t look right, you can now export your logs from the Profile tab and send them to us. It shows us exactly what happened, so we can track down and fix the issue faster.

Own a web program? Nothing changes for you. It stays yours, at calimove.com under Programs. The app is a separate system, built for mobile.
